PEACEZONE
is a school-based program designed to increase students’
ability to heal from trauma and loss, make positive decisions,
and avoid risk-taking behavior. This unique classroom
program is the first to combine building social skills
and healing from trauma, grief and loss.
There are three easy steps to join us for the walk:
The first step is to register
online to walk with us. Fill out a simple form
with some very basic information.
After registering to walk, you
can print out pledge sheets and flyers to help you
with collecting pledges. We even have some
wonderful and helpful tips that will be sure to get
you started on the right foot !!!
The last step is to bring your
completed pledge forms and the money you've raised to
the Mother's Day Walk.
Remember to note the walk in
your calendar...

An open letter from
a walker:
To
my peers:
My name is Alexandra. I am
a sophomore at Mount Saint Joseph Academy. As high school
students we are all required to complete x hours of service.
At first I felt like “what’s the point, this
is a waste of time.” I felt like this until I was
challenged by my peer leadership group Teens Against Gang
Violence (TAGV) to participate in the Mothers Walk for
Peace. TAGV comes together as a group to collect pledges
in order to raise funds for the Peace institute. More
importantly, we come together to walk on Mothers’
Day and show others that as young people we have the power
to make change. Through this we are continuing Louis Brown’s
dream that young people can advocate peace in our community
and throughout the world. I challenge you to organize
your peers/peer leadership group to walk on Mothers’
Day.
